Why is pulp fiction so popular

I would rather have ten amazing films than a mixed bag of twenty good and bad films. Samuel L. It showed that weird, graphic arthouse films could very easily fall into the collective public consciousness — it led the way for hundreds more unique films to get made. We hope you're enjoying BRWC. I didn't know, but I was disappointed, dismayed, devastated.

Also: No one fainted. Is there a lesson here, Lynch? Well, if you were to click away from this with anything learned, I'm guessing it would be Don't believe the hype. This over-long tale is proof positive that, even in the age before spoilers, script leaks, three-minute trailers and marketing costing more than the film itself, we can all get a little lost in the perceived expectations of a work of art.

As Quentin would quip multiple times in his early scripts, "Something was rotten in Denmark. Strangely, both Andreas and Jeremy felt the same way, or were shaken enough by my frustrated reaction to at least agree with me. But, what do we do? How could we go back to class the next day with the disappointing news that Quentin had hit the dreaded Sophomore Slump? I could not accept this personal defeat. I would not. There must have been a way to fix this, as I didn't want to believe my own initial feelings for this film.

There was one more screening of Pulp that night, the 10 p. So, we walked out of our theater, and being that it was a Monday night and business was slow, I stealthily headed right into the theater next to ours at the mini-multiplex, which was coincidentally enough, playing New Nightmare. Full disclosure: I was a movie-hopping professional, much like Jules was a foot-fuckin'-master. Where he didn't tickle or nuttin,' I was like a ninja in my earlier years, able to sneak into one movie after another in a multiplex without being caught my record was six movies in a row, which I think was a Long Island record at the time.

To slip from one flick to another here was like the good old days, and my partners in petty crime quickly followed. We sat In New Nightmare through the final act, arguably where the film veers away from the progressive meta-satire and falls apart into tired fantasy, and it was a wonderful palate cleanser, like cinematic wasabi. I finally shook off Pulp 's effect, and my expectations began to evolve. I was able to formulate an idea that what Tarantino did with Pulp might have been so forward-thinking even if he made it seem almost organic and on-the-fly that my wet sponge of a brain just couldn't ingest all that "cool" in one sitting.

When the credits rolled on New Nightmare , we snuck back into the final screening of Pulp just as it was beginning, again with an empty theater. Thanks to Wes Craven, who was part of the QT mythology by supposedly walking out of Reservoir Dogs in disgust, I was able to realign my expectations for this movie I had an unfair prediction of, and as I sat down again and as Jules and Vincent drove through the Valley on the way to a higher destiny, a wont of shotguns for this job and a later discussion of Kung Fu , I just accepted fate and the film in front of me.

And as you could predict with this setup, I loved it. It has an impressive soundtrack, striking cinematography and clever dialogue. It resonated with many young moviegoers who found it to be a totally intoxicating cocktail.

He was deeply impressed by what Tarantino had brought to the screen. But not everyone was won over by Pulp Fiction. Los Angeles Times film critic Kenneth Turan was one of the few dissenting voices. The film has also been criticised for bringing stylised violence into mainstream moviemaking. The film also had an impact on a new generation of filmmakers who were influenced by Tarantino.

Am I incorrect in thinking that Pulp Fiction is his best movie? Lover of Avatar The Last Airbender, not the blue people , video games, and anything 90s, he will talk your ear off about Godzilla, so don't get him started.
