Thread starter gookagon Start date Jul 7, Name Lee. I need an oil change. I usually put 10w into my car. But how about my bike?

I've never done an oil change on a bike before, any tips and insights will be appreciated. Name Erick. I have a YzfR And I need to know what the best oil is? And my bike shifts bad clunking and grinding. I need to know what oil will help me shift the best! I hope oil can help because I have read that the yzf's do not shift well. Andy Wheelie for Safety. Name Mike. It is not so much of the clutch slipping I do not think, It is the gears engaging. If I ride normal my firstsecond shift is met with a clunk clunk slap engage. The higher the RPM the worst it is, If I shift at a slow speed at a slow rate it is almost silent which is what I have to do. If I have the bike warmed up sitting still and lets say shift into first and hold the clutch I can go into second with no problem, But if I slightly let the clutch engage then pull it back in it will not go into second well at all.

My parts supplier has me trying expensive synthetic oils, I had yamalube at first it did it, Then I tried motuol maybe a little better But ad the oil broke down after milage it was back, Then I tried the mottorex and it has not gone away. I almost want to have a mecanic look at it but I don't want to pay for him to scratch his head! With that any input is welcome, And I know everyone has a favorite brand. Angular Well-Known Member.

Name Johan. I sometimes feel like looking down after the shift just to make sure something didn't just fall out of the tranny. I went full synth for a couple of thousand miles and didn't really notice any improvement, so decided to switch back to the recommended Yamalube. I guess it's just something us Yammie lovers have to learn to live with. PS - I'm glad to hear that it IS in fact a general Yamaha characteristic and not something particular with my bike.

Just because most all yamaha's do it, Does make it acceptable to me! For as long as motorcycles have been around, and the tech we have today, plus the money a new bike cost, It should just work Andrew definitely contains nuts. Name Andrew.
